"Mrs. Suomi, I saw an eighth grade girl and I gave her the nod. You know, the nod that says what's up." I replied, "So how did that go for you?"
"She just shook her head no at me." He smiled his signature smile and shrugged his shoulders obviously not overly embarrassed at his rejection.
I usually have a pretty good poker face with my students, but it was a little too hard to hold in my laughter.
Fifth grade boys are great, aren't they? They turn into eighth grade boys (where I am) and they are just as great! I have two outside my room right now, taking down art work, "practicing their whining" like puppies voices. I have to shake my head and laugh!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the slice! :)
I do a lot of head shaking over here too! Every day is an adventure though!
DeleteGreat moment--for your student, for you. I love the way kids give us invitations to give them an invitation to share with us.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely made me laugh. This student in particular LOVES to share! Thanks for your comment!
