The Performer (SOL17 #5)

My niece is a born entertainer. From day 1 she has captivated any audience that she can trap into watching her. Whether it be a song she learned at school, or telling jokes, Leah loves to be the star of the show.

It was a normal night going over to their house to visit, but Leah's mission was to make it memorable. As the adults sat and talked, Leah developed her plan to steal the show. For her birthday she received a cozy dog zip up outfit. Think an animal shaped snuggie that was doubled as an outfit/costume. It's hard to describe. It was FAR too big on her, but that didn't seem to matter in her 5 year old mind. She slipped on the costume and shuffled out in the living room to district the adults. She walked around giggling and tripped over the giant dog suit as she took each step.

That wasn't enough though. Since this costume was so large she decided to embrace it and shove a pillow in to make it fit better. With her new found big belly she then began to dance her heart out. The belly of the dog suit was going in the opposite way that she was moving and her smile radiated under the hood of the outfit. As funny as it all was, it was her shrieking and giggling that was the most memorable part. We were all crying we were laughing so hard.

I hope she never loses that happy go lucky part of her personality. Oh, and I hope she will continue to grace us with those dance moves.

  1. Leah sounds absolutely adorable! You captured her and her wonderful personality through your word choice. I was smiling all the way through it. And don't worry, she won't lose it - just keep encouraging it. I hope you read this to her.
